Have you ever seen a little lamp glowing in the dark? It looks so pretty, doesn't it? Diwali is a time when we light lots and lots of these little lamps. That is why people call it the Festival of Lights!

Let us hear a wonderful story about why we celebrate Diwali.

A long, long time ago, there lived a brave prince named Rama. He was kind and good. Everyone in his kingdom loved him very much. Rama had a beautiful wife named Sita and a strong brother named Lakshmana.

One day, something very sad happened. A bad king named Ravana took Sita away to a faraway island. Rama was very sad. He missed Sita so much. But Rama was brave. He said, "I will find Sita and bring her home!"

Rama and Lakshmana went on a long, long journey. On the way, they met a very special friend — Hanuman! Hanuman was strong and could jump very far. He loved Rama with all his heart. Hanuman flew across the big ocean to find Sita. He told her, "Do not worry! Rama is coming to save you!"

With the help of Hanuman and many other good friends, Rama fought the bad king Ravana. After a big battle, Rama won! He saved Sita, and they were so happy to be together again.

Now Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana had to travel all the way back home. They had been away for fourteen long years! Can you imagine being away from home for so long?

When the people of their kingdom heard that Rama was coming back, they were SO excited! They wanted to welcome him in the best way. But it was nighttime, and the roads were very dark. How would Rama find his way home?

The people had a beautiful idea. They lit thousands and thousands of tiny clay lamps called diyas. They put diyas on every doorstep, every window, and every road. The whole kingdom sparkled like a sky full of stars! When Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana came home, they saw all the beautiful lights and felt so loved.

That is why we celebrate Diwali! We light diyas to remember that night when love and goodness came home.

During Diwali, families do many fun things together. We clean our homes until they are sparkling. We make yummy sweets like laddoos. We wear our prettiest clothes. We draw colorful patterns called rangoli on the floor. And of course, we light lots of diyas!

We also pray to Goddess Lakshmi during Diwali. She is the goddess of good things and happiness. When we keep our homes clean and bright, we welcome her blessings.

Diwali teaches us something very important — even one small lamp can push away the darkness. When we are kind, when we share, when we love others, we are like little lamps too! We bring light to the world.

So this Diwali, remember brave Rama, kind Sita, and strong Hanuman. Light a diya with your family. Watch it glow. And know that the light inside your heart is the brightest light of all!

Happy Diwali!
