A long, long time ago, there lived a very special princess named Sita. She was not like princesses in other stories who just sat in tall towers. Sita was brave, kind, and very strong in her heart.
Sita's father was a good king named Janaka. He loved Sita so much! Do you know how he found her? One day, King Janaka was walking through his fields. He was getting the ground ready to plant seeds. And right there, in the soft earth, he found a beautiful baby girl! He picked her up gently, and she smiled at him. He named her Sita, which means "furrow" — the little line made in the soil. From that day, she was his dearest daughter, and the whole kingdom loved her.
Sita grew up to be smart and gentle. She was kind to everyone — to the birds, to the animals, and to all the people around her. She also loved to learn. She listened carefully to her teachers and always tried to do the right thing.
When Sita was old enough, a prince named Rama came to her kingdom. Rama was strong and good. There was a big contest to see who could lift a giant, magical bow. Many princes tried and failed. But Rama lifted it easily! Sita chose Rama, and they got married. Everyone was so happy!
But then something sad happened. Rama had to leave his kingdom and go live in the forest for a long time. Do you know what Sita did? She did not stay behind in the cozy palace. She said, "I will come with you!" Even though the forest was wild and had no soft beds or yummy palace food, Sita was not scared. She wanted to be with Rama and share his journey.
In the forest, Sita was brave every single day. She helped take care of their little home made of leaves and branches. She picked fruits and flowers. She was always cheerful even when things were hard.
Then one day, a tricky king called Ravana took Sita away to his faraway island. This was very scary! But Sita did not cry and give up. She was strong inside her heart. She knew that what Ravana did was wrong, and she never listened to him. She sat under a big tree and thought of Rama. She believed he would come.
And guess what? Rama did come! With the help of his brother Lakshmana and a wonderful monkey friend named Hanuman, Rama crossed the ocean and rescued Sita. When they all came home, the people were so happy that they lit tiny oil lamps everywhere. The whole city sparkled like stars on the ground! That celebration is called Diwali, and we still celebrate it today.
What can we learn from Sita? We learn that being brave does not mean you are never scared. It means you keep going even when things are hard. We learn that being kind to others makes us strong. And we learn that loving your family and standing by them is one of the most beautiful things you can do.
Sita showed the whole world that a princess can be gentle AND brave at the same time. So the next time you feel a little scared, remember Sita. Take a deep breath, be kind, and be brave — just like her!
