Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Dhruva. He was only five years old — maybe just as old as you!

Dhruva was a prince. His father was a king named Uttanapada. The king had two wives. Dhruva's mother was named Suniti. She was very kind and gentle.

One day, little Dhruva wanted to sit on his father's lap. He walked up to the king's big throne. But before he could climb up, his stepmother Suruchi said something very mean. She said, "You cannot sit on the king's lap. Only my son can sit there. If you want something so special, go and pray to God!"

Those words hurt Dhruva's heart. He felt very, very sad. He ran to his mother, crying. His mother Suniti hugged him tight. She said, "My dear child, do not cry. Your stepmother said one true thing — when we are sad, we can always turn to God. God loves every child. He will always listen to you."

Dhruva wiped his tears. He made up his mind. "I will go and find God!" he said. He was very small, but he was very brave.

Little Dhruva walked into the deep, dark forest. He was all alone. The trees were tall. The animals were big. But Dhruva was not afraid. He kept walking and walking.

In the forest, he met a wise sage named Narada. Narada was surprised to see such a small boy all alone. "Where are you going, little one?" he asked.

"I am going to find God," said Dhruva.

Narada smiled. He taught Dhruva a special prayer — the mantra "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya." He told Dhruva to sit quietly, close his eyes, and say this prayer to Lord Vishnu.

And that is just what Dhruva did. He sat very, very still. He closed his eyes. He said his prayer again and again. Days went by. Weeks went by. Months went by. Rain fell on him, but he did not move. The hot sun shone on him, but he did not move. He was as steady as a rock.

All the gods in heaven were amazed. "Who is this little boy?" they asked. "His prayer is so strong!"

Then something wonderful happened. Lord Vishnu himself came to see Dhruva! The great God appeared before the little boy, shining with a beautiful blue light. He was so kind and so loving.

"Dhruva," said Lord Vishnu, "I am so proud of you. You are so young, but your heart is so strong. What do you wish for?"

But something amazing had happened inside Dhruva's heart. When he started, he wanted to sit on his father's lap. But now, after praying for so long, all he wanted was God's love. "I don't need anything else," said Dhruva. "Seeing you is enough."

Lord Vishnu was so happy. He blessed little Dhruva. He said, "You will become the Pole Star — the Dhruva Tara. You will shine in the sky forever. Every other star will move, but you will stay fixed and steady. People will always look up to you to find their way."

And that is what happened! If you go outside on a clear night and look up at the sky, you can see the Pole Star. That is Dhruva — the brave little boy who loved God with all his heart.

The story of Dhruva teaches us something beautiful. No matter how small you are, your love and your prayers are powerful. When you are steady and brave, just like Dhruva, wonderful things can happen. And remember — God loves every single child, just the same.
